OUR TEAM
Our multi-disciplinary team includes legal professionals, researchers, academics and trainers, as well as AI engineers. Our legal team specialises in digital and AI law, media and copyright law, human rights, labour and international law. Our associates operate across jurisdictions - EU, UK, and Africa.
Our policy and draftinng team boasts three PhDs with decades in consulting lecturing and training - in communications and business law.
Our trainers are multi-disciplinary - from governance training to innovation and digital practice- including risk training for executives, board directors and risk management officers.
OUR FOUNDER
Our founder and Managing Partner, Kathryn Berman, (Kathy) - BA Hons (Film) (University of Witwatersrand); MBA (Finance and Marketing) (Wits Business School); LLM (AI Law) (Liverpool John Moores University) is currently a candidate PhD in AI Law (Wits Law School).
Kathy has spent thirty years specialising as a consultant and advisor in the media, communications, technology and innovation sectors for government and private sector clients, delivering on corporate finance strategy, legislative drafting, white papers, policy, due diligence, M&A corporate governance, and risk. Clients include World Bank and IFC, South African Government entities - Presidency, Treasury, SARS - and many private sector listed companies in the technology sectors.
She is a skilled strategist and a dynamic facilitator and trainer and has led over 400 workshops in business strategy and innovation. Her earlier career commenced as a media practitioner: journalist and television producer. A deeply committed social impact activist, she also founded and leads non-profit www.impact4good.co.za which boasts a portfolio of investments in marginalised sectors.
In additional to her degrees, Kathy has legal diplomas in post-graduate company law, digital and telecommunications law, and mediation (South Africa - various).
